Stage 4 – The Peak District, Part 1

Was a bit further than planned, and took longer, so this will have to be a short entry.

Enjoyed the hot showers this morning, great campsite and as it was pretty foggy it wasn’t nearly so cold overnight. Set off early (which was just as well in hindsight), into the mist.

In pretty much no time, I found the start of Route 68 😀

Path to Ashbourn took most of the morning, met quite a few cyclists out for their Saturday rides. Got a lot more hilly, you’d expect.

Second breakfast in Ashbourn here…

Was very nice, and oddly enough some of the guys I’d met earlier were doing the same. Sun came out while I was eating (finally).

After there it was off the roads all the way to Buxton, mainly old railway tracks. The first half (which was hours) looked flat but was a very very long slow incline… It took it out of you eventually, but the views were awesome…

I ate a fair bit of cake today, but it was a long way and there was quite a lot of up hill…

Also, chips and a pint in Buxton
